Stigma

I am sure you must have heard of the word Stigma.

One entry says Stigma is - a strong feeling of disapproval that most people in a society have about something, especially when this is unfair
Another one is even more brutal - a mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance, quality, or person.

Sapna- The Dream of a Leprosy Free India

Back again before even you could say Bingo!
Yes and why So! ( Oh Dear , that rhymes but I digress )

I am back again to introduce somebody special. Sapna.
Who is Sapna?
Could be anybody. You . Me . Anybody. Anybody who believes and who wishes to see Leprosy eliminated and eradicated from my country India, Your Country. From Everywhere. And most importantly from that ridiculous book of myths. Leprosy is an important issue. And the last thing it needs is Myths.

Coming back to Sapna, yes she is anybody who believes in the dream that there should be no discrimination based on somebody's affliction, and she is also the Mascot for the Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign , an initiative by the Govt. of India.
And she is cute!

                 

There are a series of posters of Sapna which handles all the questions and myths  .

But like I said, you or I can be a Sapna too. If we have a dream to see a Leprosy Free India. 

I have the dream . I am Sapna.

FAQ - Leprosy

Hello and I am back.

So we were talking about Leprosy - the disease. We will be talking a lot about Leprosy here.
Because I am sure you have never had a conversation on Leprosy before . Have you ? I guessed so.
Well I maybe wrong in a few few cases. But... Alright Point made!
So I am going to do a couple of things first to initiate our conversation .

That was the famous soul "scorching" speech by Martin Luther King on the 28th of August, 1963. 

More than 50 years on, and people still judge by colour, caste, creed and sadly by disease. 

The purpose here. Today . is more for the Disease part. Not all disease ( Of course I do not intend to demean other diseases or equally relevant issues) but I am here specifically for Hansen's disease or what you call Leprosy.
